15 Ways to Overcome Your Fear of Flying

By on September 24, 2015

Of all the phobias on the planet, the most common is a fear of flying. Of course, some who have the phobia would argue a fear of flying is not an irrational one, as tons of steel are held aloft in the air, incredibly high up, because of speed and wing span. It does seem fairly miraculous when you think about it. But the reality is, flying is incredibly safe, safer than driving and people don’t usually give a thought to that. As much as you may have the fear yourself, and for however long you’ve had it, there are things you can do to get over your fear. And once you do, the entire world is your oyster and you can travel anywhere and often.

Plan Your Trip Wisely

Back in the day travelers had very little control over which airline, route or type of aircraft they would fly in, all of that was decided by a friendly travel agent. But thanks to the internet and sites like Travelocity and Expedia, travelers can make their own decisions. When booking a flight, take the most direct route possible, preferably non-stop, and select an airplane with a large interior space (747, 777, Airbus A380 etc.) where you’ll most likely feel more comfortable.
